NetNoise

NetNoise, this site was made to consolidate tools that might be handy for SysOp's or other Linux code based administrators.

NetNoise = Any unwanted TCP/UDP data that are passed to your system without you approval , you might say that its plain noise, or (bit SPAM).

The Last 2 years the War, on SPAM has driven SPAMMERS to use and locate new ways of delving their payloads of unwanted e-mail. Open relays from wrongly install SMTP server did most of the SPAM delivery until the anti SPAM sites was in general blocked by block list providers, including Spamcop, Spamhaus and the Spam & Open Relay Blocking System (SORBS) has by reporting relays and adding purely install SMTP servers to a blacklist reduced the amount of spam and are now attacked by spammers by use of sleeping computers known as “zombies.”

The last 6 months most SPAM has been relayed via Trojan's that are install and sent out in the same way as normal virus, the zombies take over control of purely update windows based home computes linked to the internet via ADSL SDAL and other high speed connections.

Relays via proxy server was/is a favorite of the Send Safe guys in Russia, who are know SPAM tool makers. The first netnoise tool Squidefender was made to target the scanning and missus of proxy servers, by scanning squid proxy log information to send a warring to the ISP/Uplink of the offending user and add the users IP in IPTABLES or Ipchains.

The Safe Send software clams to use a using proprietary proxy routing, however that's translates into your proxy or any proxy server that's wrongly installed. a normal Safe send entry in your Squid proxy looks like this:

1051825426.739 46 4.62.169.146 TCP_DENIED/403 1007 CONNECT mx.mail.rcn.net:25 - NONE/- -

The main thing is that the users of Send safe will have a list of "open" proxy's that actually is just a list of proxy servers that are friendly and are configured to send a access denied page to the proxy scanner, however if you system are flooded with test or real try's to route mail you will see you bandwidth and system resources spend on sending error MSG or route mail.
